Have you ever considered what having digital supplies will actually do for your creativity levels? Hopefully after reading this post, I will have changed your mind if you have always wondered.
I have always loved Art, and never thought myself very good at it. I never had the eye my kids did when it came to drawing or painting. Anyone who is in my immediate circle can tell you how many cards I make for them. Why? Because I love to craft and because I think it is more personal.
Since I create for a couple awesome designers, and continuously find myself salivating over people who are so creative minded, like Heidi Swapp.....(I can't say enough good things about this magical bombshell) I get so inspired to do something new. Living in the most remote and rural part of the country, being able to just drive over to a store, craft shop and or office supply store is out of the question. So when I want to make something I have to be completely on my own and utilize all I have here in my craft room. Heidi Swapp has these
Memory Folders I drool over..... and although I do not have all the punched out pretty arrows and assorted fancy ribbons etc. I do happen to have some beautiful digital supplies, in abundance. So, with alittle creativity, I made my own version, using
Sweet Digi Scraps various kits called
Storybook Romance,
Prince Charming and
Forever Family a freebie currently on Facebook. All of her beautiful products are in her store over at TheDigiChick
HERE.....I use her stuff because they ALL print out so beautifully and perfect for ALL my Hybrid crafting. Now some of the added supplies are of what I have on hand and have been collecting over the years and was happy to be to incorporate it all and pull it together to make this album. It is my first, which all of you know, the template for trial and errors. I already planning my second Memory File Folder.....and incorporating my chip board and coming up with similar stuff that looks like Smashbook 3 dimensional stuff to add and it will be themed..like for vacations, grandchildren and or maybe a portfolio type folder. Now that is a good idea...displaying all of my favorite photos taken over 2012. See how my mind works? Understand that this is not finished quite yet....still have loads to add. But wanted to share what is so far....

Here is the cover page. Butterfly is my stamp, gold embossing on red card stock to highlight the kit I used from
Sweet Digi Scraps. Also added Gel Glitter pen inside of the butterfly for highlights. This paper is from her Freebie called Forever Family, which she is giving away on her Facebook. I have to get me some of that bailing twine looking ribbon for my next project and add some fat ribbon to my stash as well. The banner is
Sweet Digi Scraps as well, and I printed it out and added my own small twine on the outside and Glossy Accents as the glue, but also used Alene's Tacky Glue for other various gluing. Any fast drying glue will work. Infact majority of the time, my big fat glue stick is my first grab for projects.
Here is the inside, using a jouranling card from Forever Family Freebie and the heart is printed off from
Storybook Romance. The flower is a piece of old lace I made into a flower and a rub sticker I have had and added. The dragonfly is also a old sticker. Also I added some photo stacks......and embellished the layers with stamps I have had and used colors of ink to coordinate with the paper colors I used.
Now, I used some homemade glimmer mist using Tim Holtz Distress Ink and Perfect Pearls and sprayed the inside of the white card stock to jazz it up some. And again,
Sweet Digi Scraps kit called
Storybook Romance paper was used for my small folder. All the alphas were some have had on hand and used to them that coordinated with the color of the
Prince Charming papers. The card inside top is also from
Sweet Digi Scraps Prince Charming kit. I will add photo's and various other details as well as I finish this folder up. My favorite part was stamping butterflies using Distress Ink Blue Jeans and using Clear embossing powder, and using a glitter gel pen inside of it to make it shinier. So pretty.
Here, is folders inside of folders.....just adding
Sweet Digi Scraps journaling cards from her freebie Forever family and added velum star stickers similar colors to the colors I used. It can be used to journal inside or whatever you desire,
And since it is the center, I added the ribbon to this section and pulled a long ribbon through the whole thing to bind it. How? well on the outside of each folder, I took a hole punch and cut halfway into it and when opened, it shows a whole circle for adding your ribbon and or even some snap rings, which is an even better idea if it is a fat book.
So there you have how creative you can be by using your own digital supplies. I simply took an old folder had on hand and used it for a template. you can make them small and or regular size....my next one will be one half the size of a regular folder and then print off my favorite themed papers for my next memory folder. I had so much fun doing this project... and the pictures do not do this project justice. But let your imagination flow.....dig out your card stock and get to printing out your papers and start making something beautiful.
I personally can't wait to finish this project up. I will also add my next project as well. Because as always the first one you do, you can always see and know what differences will be made for the next one. Do not be afraid to add your own supplies, stamps, glitters, buttons, ribbons, sprays, paints, water color pencils, crayons, inks, beads, safety pins and added beads, and don't forget all those cutting tools, to cut shapes and punches. This might not be as fancy as Heidi Swapps Memory File Folder, but it is mine and it is all from scratch. And I love the results I get each and everytime. Who needs to go shopping when you have unlimited supplies at your finger tips. With this kind of flexibility, the crafting ideas are endless for you to create create create. So go, create something fun and beautiful today.
Happy Scrappin!
