Art Journaling

Ok have you ever found yourself in a loss for inspiration when creating? Me too..and recently found a new inspiration by sheer accident. I was browsing my Craft store when I stumbled acrossed a couple books called Smash. (have you seen or heard of them yet? they are awesome) I walked past them and found myself walking back, picking it up and leafing thru it.... and admiring all the little accessories it offered to go with it. The light bulb went on as I seen the price of it all and quick calculations in my head told me....with all the stuff you have at home, having collected for years scrimping and saving, you gotta doing this yourself without spending money on stuff you can make yourself or already have. 

So I came home, grabbed my old Vintage style scrap-books, 14x12 brown papers and all, and pulled all the old ones apart, along with the scattered photo's, articles, cards, memento's and souveiners I had kept through out the years and started my own version of a Smashbook. And I am having so much fun with it all. Soooo, when Courtney'sDigiScrappin introduced this kit called Hide and Seek.......

 I was like a little kid all over again for this is pretty much what I have been already doing to my own pages and then adding my photo's to them when all the glitter, stamping ink, ModPodge, felt pens, crayons, water color paints have all dried. I have never been so inspired to get a project done...as I have now. I found reverting back to doing scrapbooks and adding artistic edges have truly been my happiest times while making pages. My love for making my own cards, was the best, finding digital scrapbooking was absolutely devine, but this type of creating for me is heavenly. And I know that wen I am done, flipping back thru the Memory book will be so much more added pleasure, for years t come, whether it is me or my family, seeing my artistic doodling will only add to the smiles......even if they think it is silly or not, it will only add creativity to all my pages.

 And to show you the kit better, here are a couple pages I have created using this kit. Artistic Journaling does not need to show photo's on your pages....it should be about you, your moods for the moment, your take on the day, a mere expression of yourself..... like this is above. Document things you love and tell people all about you without all the distractions. Do all the things you feel and love.....

And here is another one, using my daughters black and white photo she gave me I did a few minor changes to the photo to add some artistic flare and add it to this page to show this kit with a photo....

So as you see, with or without a photo, it is quite awesome. If you have not tried doing this type of creativity, you really should. I didn't have a clue what I was going to start when I first pulled out my colored pencils either, but once I started, it turned on a whole new creativity switch...i love and have not stopped. You should see my room, with all the materials strung all over and within reach to use for each page. I have a feeling I will be sad when the book ends, and then I might have to resort to purchasing a Smashbook just to say I have had one....but with all I have here, it will be a long while.
